Firm details attestation
Firm details attestation is the yearly task in which a firm checks the details the FCA holds on it and corrects or confirms them. For a principal it also covers its ARs and IARs as they appear on the Financial Services Register. It is due within 60 business days of the firm's accounting reference date.
The rules
- Check the firm's details between the accounting reference date and 60 business days after it, and correct anything wrong (SUP 16.10.4R).
- For ARs, use the SUP 12 forms to correct the Register: add an AR that is missing, change wrong details, or terminate one still shown.
- AR details came into scope through PS22/11, first for accounting reference dates on or after 1 December 2023.
- A late or missing attestation can lead to an administrative fee and a non-compliant banner on the Register.
Common misconceptions
- “Attestation is where you report AR changes.”
- Changes must be notified as they happen (SUP 12.7.7R). The attestation is a yearly check on top.
In Merrin
The attestation sits on the principal's own calendar in Merrin, keyed off its accounting reference date alongside REP025.
